Plan for this Wednesday: Discuss this reading
Lecture on Scientific Writing Chapter 3 online test Seven Sources is due Thursday, Feb 12, Magnet office, by 3:45 pm. Do you have any questions? Essential Question for the week: Should children who have not been vaccinated be barred from attending public school? I will ask each of you to write a Basic SP Question that would form a starting research point to answer this question. Ask yourself where you would start. What do you need to research? Should parents get to choose not to vaccinate? Are all vaccinations equally beneficial and/or equally risky? What are the risks? When is herd immunity considered to have been reached, and what subgroups need herd immunity? Who risks the most when unvaccinated children attend public school? What are the costs associated with a spreading epidemic in a population that isn't at herd immunity (think of the current measles epidemic and the recent pertussis epidemics?) Are parents basing their choices on solid scientific research? ![]()
