The Pearl river necklace is a bridge that spans from the territory of Hong Kong to the mainland of China. The bridge spans the gap of the channel lying between the two bodies of land. The bridge is one of its own unique design to capture its purpose although it seems to be most like a basic pier or highway bridge. It uses tall pier like structures from under the water to hold up the road above it. The bridge has not been yet been completed but started in 2009 and is expected to finish sometime around late 2016 as of now. The bridge is to be made primarily of high-strength concrete and steel. What makes this bridge so interesting is that for one, it is expected to span around 50 km in total. In addition to that is supposed to use islands for the bridges path to rest. Lastly, the mot incredible part is the way the bridge switches sides. The purpose of the bridge is to connect areas on which people drive on different sides of the road. The flip makes it possible for the people to continue to drive once they get to the other territory.
