Foundations of Engineering and technology

Nov 30 and on to the end

We have just three weeks left until the end of this semester!  Here is my plan for those three weeks.  In addition to the lecture/work topics, you will work with some basic circuits and multimeters and start the project to create your own speaker.  The speaker project will likely continue over to January, but we should complete the circuit board soldering by the end of this semester.

Also, during project presentations, we will analyze each project within the framework of the engineering design process.
Week of Nov 30:
Mon/Tue:  Circuit Elements: define basic elements and quantities
Thu/Fri:  Individual Student Project Presentations
Wed/Mon: Circuit Analysis:  Equivalent resistance, Ohm's Law, power
Tue/Wed:  Power Generation and the Rankin Cycle
Thu/Fri: Smart Grid and Energy in the Future
Mon/Tue: Review, wrap-up as needed
Wed:  Skinny A Final Exam Period:  Circuits Test
Thu:  Skinny B/Block 2 Final Exam Period: Circuits Test

Dr. Kate Maloney is an electrical engineer, having earned a BEE from Georgia Tech in 1988, a Ph.D. in 1992, followed by an NSF post-doc from 1992-94.  After a few career stops that include teaching at Georgia Tech, writing the manual for a 40G optical transport system, co-founding a small engineering business, she finds herself happily sharing her days with the best students in the world:  Wheeler High kids.  #WildcatNation
