Significant Bridge: I chose the Concord Bridge which is in Smyrna, Georgia. This is a covered, wooden bridge that goes over Nickajack Creek. The bridge started off as having just two main spans when it was created in 1872 and then in the 1950s' 4 piers were added and extra steel supports. This bridge is significant to me because I went over it almost every day for four years and also played in the creek it crosses many times when I was younger. It is interesting because it is a one lane bridge with no lights and a roof. Because of these reasons, many people have crashed into the bridge, often times requiring the bridge to be repaired. The bridge is also in a historic area known as Ruff's Mill, a battle in the civil war.
TED Talk Reflection:
I thought it was interesting how
the computer was mainly designed to design atomic bombs. To me, that seems so
old because I have never lived without computers and atomic bombs have only
been used during WW2. I also thought it
was interesting how they were only used in the 50s for private until around the
80s where they began to be used in more public uses. It amazes me how they
designed such a complex machine from nothing and how all computers today are
based off of the first early designs.
Another thing that surprised me was how all of the researchers kept precise journals of everything they did, including the unimportant stuff. This makes it possible for people today to tell what the first researchers did. It also helps the researchers find their errors and improve their product. Overall, the TED talk was very informative of the invention of computers.

Friday assignment 3/6/15 option 2: I think robotics will eventually evolve to be most of the manpower in the future economy. Most jobs will be able to be manned completely by robots, leaving people to live almost like they were in retirement, earning money from the government and being able to do what they want. Some positions, like political jobs and inventor jobs would still have actual people working because of the creativity required for the job. Also, there would not be much of an economy because robots would earn most of the money if it was like it is today. I think the world would be more we get to use whatever the robots produce rather than we buy what we can afford that other people make.
