The Infinity Bridge is a pedestrian and cycle bridge located across the River Tees in the borough of Stockton-On-Tees in north-east England. The name comes from the infinity symbol formed by the bridge and its reflection in the water. The bridge is a dual, tied arch bridge with one asymmetrical river pier. A reflex piece between the two arches holds them together making the arches one unbroken arc. No other bridge is known to have the same design!
Some design constraints is the fact that arches have a natural starting point and ending point, so they can only be a certain length. Also, they require more maintenance due to flexing and cracking. This may result in extra cost over time.
