An effective assessment strategy in the form of an analytic rubric clearly based on the objectives and standards of the assignment was implemented in Advanced Scientific Research, Fall 2016. The Lit Review, or Foundational Research Sub-problem, is the first step students take in their independent research.  After determining a topic for research at internship, each student retrieves a minimum of seven reputable sources and writes a literary review of these to form a basis for applied research.  Prior to this assignments, students have had pre-assessments in the form of a holistic assessment of research knowledge, pre-test in APA style, and an assessment of the type of internship.
